Travis Rudolph, who played for the New York Giants and the Miami Dolphins in the NFL, has been arrested after a shooting rampage that left one person dead and another injured.
The 25-year-old has been charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder and is being held without bail in a South Florida county jail
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, police responded to a report of a double shooting shortly after midnight and upon arrival discovered that one man had been transported to a local hospital and another was found dead a short distance away in West Palm Beach.
Officers, who have not detailed the origin of the incident, identified Rudolph as the suspected shooter and he was arrested shortly thereafter.
Rudolph was Florida State’s lead receiver in 2015 and 2016, and then he signed with the Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2017. He was waived one year later, at which point he joined the Dolphins. However, he suffered a torn ACL on his first day of practice and was placed on the practice squad/injured list.
He made the move to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Canadian Football League at the beginning of 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic he had not yet played for them. Upon hearing of his arrest, Rudolph was released.
